Active Older Adults

Active Older Adults (AOA) at the Y experience a strong sense of belonging and a network of friends who provide supportive communities for sustained health and well-being. Older adults are a significant and growing segment of our communities. All AOA benefit from engaging in YMCA activities that enhance connections, decrease a sense of isolation, and improve overall well-being.
about

At the YMCA of Laurel Highlands, we consider the health and fitness of our AOAs a top priority. As a part of the AOA program, we offer a variety of exercise classes for men and women ages 50+. Our AOA Fitness classes are available to help members that are looking for a specialized workout to improve overall well-being at a friendly pace. Our AOA Group Exercise Classes concentrate on mobility and flexibility, improving strength, coordination, and balance in everyday activities.

November 2024 Newsletter & Class Calendar

Along with specialized group exercise classes we offer social activities such as monthly Lunch & Learns with informational speakers, Y Knot Knitters group, and bus trips to casinos, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, & Lancaster. We are also involved in projects that benefit the community and important causes such as Relay for Life, Newborns in Need, American Heart Association & more.

In addition to our YMCA senior members, we currently accept the SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, and Renew Active programs that provide a Y membership to those 65+ (or medicare eligible) with specific insurance plans. You can verify eligibility through your insurance company or by calling us at 724-547-9622.
